Anyone who had read Mahabharata, one of the greatest epics in India must have come across the name Ekalavya. Albeit he is one of the uncelebrated warriors, I am very much fascinated by his personality. I am inspired by his ardent interest in archery even though he did not have any skilled experts to guide him. He postulated a statue of Drona as his teacher and learnt archery. he surveilled Drona while teaching archery to other royal kids and practiced in front of the statue. His became a skilful archer as a result of his endeavours. He was capable of shooting 7 arrows into the mouth of a dog in seconds by the time it opens its mouth. He became the best one surpassing even Arjuna who was considered the best archer during that time. I chose to ignore the rest of the story where Drona demanded his thumb as an honorarium to stop him from pursuing archery. It was an unfair oppression from Drona. But let us focus what we can learn from Ekalavya, how he was persistent to achieve his dream. Sometimes we wait for others to guide and assist us. Guidance we seek will be discrete at times. If we keep our mind receptive to those hidden signals, there is no stopping us now. I find highly motivated when I relate myself to him and take chances in life.
